Turmeric Latte Ingredients
- 1 tsp golden paste (recipe above)
- 2 cups of nut juice – almond milk or cashew or coconut etc (**almond milk is high in calcium & coconut milk higher in calories so choose depending on calorie counting)
- Maple syrup to taste (I used about 1 tsp and a half)
- Pinch of cinnamon on top for flavour and appeal 😉
Optional Ingredients:
- Could sprinkle top with cocoa powder or nutmeg, or add honey instead of maple syrup or add 1/2 tbsp of vanilla.
Instructions:
- Combine milk, golden paste and maple syrup in a saucepan and heat on low to medium – do not boil.
- Pour into your fav comfy mug and sprinkle cinnamon or a dash of cayenne pepper on top and VOILA – Enjoy! Hope you love it as much as I do 😉 XO
If making one drink from scratch without the golden paste:
- 1 cup of cashew, or almond, or coconut milk
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- ½ ground ginger
- ⅛ tsp black pepper
- pinch of himalayan salt
- 1Tbsp coconut oil
- 1Tbsp maple syrup
- Heat liquid in a saucepan over medium heat. Pour hot liquid into a blender and add rest of ingredients. Blend one minute of until frothy. Sprinkle with cinnamon for a little extra flavour. You can use fresh ginger and turmeric as well as dried.
Recipe Notes:
It is a lot easier to make the ‘golden paste’ and keep it in the refrigerator ready for when you would like to make your latte or add it to a stir fry, etc…
PS — Turmeric looks like ginger bulbs but super orange. 1 inch fresh turmeric = 1 tbsp freshly grated turmeric = 1 teaspoon ground turmeric. So if you want to use the fresh calculate accordingly for your golden paste 🙂
Lesley, This looks really interesting. I will try it soon. My husband and I have a concoction that we drink every morning. Lemon juice (we share a lemon), a teaspoon of turmeric, a few shakes of cayenne, a spoon of honey and hot water. We’ve been doing this for at least 4 yrs. A good way to start the morning. Susan
That sounds like a great immune boosting way to start your day Susan!! The cayenne pepper is important to help the turmeric get absorbed into the system. Let me know if you like this turmeric latte recipe – it is one of my winter favs!! xo
